ReCreate is a design-led architecture practice established by James Waddington in 2025. The studio engages primarily in creating contemporary buildings for living and working. We strive to create timeless architecture which will age gracefully. Empathy with context and sensitivity to the environment underpins our approach.
Each project begins with understanding your needs. We then undertake thorough research to ensure our proposals are built on a solid understanding of the project constraints and opportunities. We use hand drawings and physical models to test ideas early on in the process and ensure a personalised, hand-on experience for our clients.

James trained at the University of Bath and the University of Liverpool before setting up ReCreate Architecture in 2025. He has a background working on projects in sensitive historic settings and remote locations.
Prior to setting up ReCreate, James worked for eight years at Hugh Broughton Architects where he gained unique experience working on projects in Antarctica for the Australian Antarctic Division and British Antarctic Survey. He also worked extensively with Grade I and II listed buildings, including the award winning refurbishment of Clifford’s Tower in York for English Heritage, and the conservation of the Painted Hall at the ORNC in Greenwich. James also worked for award-winning practice, Gianni Botsford Architects, a studio specialising in the design of private homes, often on very constrained sites.
