ReCreate is a design-led architecture practice founded by James Waddington in 2026. The studio focuses on creating contemporary buildings for living and working. An empathetic response to context and a sensitive approach to the environment underpin every project.
Each project begins by understanding your needs, followed by thorough research to ensure proposals are grounded in a clear understanding of the constraints and opportunities. Hand sketches and physical models are used to explore ideas from the earliest stages of the design process, fostering thoughtful, considered architecture and a personal, collaborative experience throughout the project.
James Waddington
March (Hons) PGDip ARB
James trained at the University of Bath and the University of Liverpool. He has a background working on projects in sensitive historic settings, remote locations and extreme climates.
He worked for eight years at Hugh Broughton Architects (HBA) in London and gained unique experience working on complex projects in Antarctica for the Australian Antarctic Division. He also worked extensively with Grade I and II listed buildings, including the award winning refurbishment of Clifford’s Tower in York for English Heritage, and the conservation of the Painted Hall at the ORNC in Greenwich.
James went on to work for Gianni Botsford Architects, a practice specialising in the design of private homes, before establishing ReCreate in 2026.
